Nokia Lumia 1020 Vs. iPhone 6

Nokia is still an important player in the smartphone market and the Finnish company hopes to go head to head with Apple as its upcoming Nokia Lumia 1020 will take on the latest Apple smartphone, the much rumored iPhone 6.
There are rumors pointing to a September release for the iPhone 6, though other voices say that’s when the iPhone 5S is going to be released. Rumors also mention that the iPhone 6′s SoC (System on a Chip) is going to be new A7 quad core chip. Among some of the iPhone 6′s rumored features, there are: NFC (Near Field Communication), a rear camera with a 13 MP sensor and an improved battery life. Like its cousin, the iPad, the iPhone 6 may also come in a version with 128 GB of internal storage.
Nokia recently unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 1020, that intends to go head to head with the top smartphones on the market, including upcoming flagship smartphones from rival companies. One of these upcoming smartphones that Nokia Lumia 1020 will go head to head with is expected to be Apple’s iPhone 6.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 was officially announced on 11th July this year, at a Nokia event in New York City, called “Zoom Reinvented”. With its early unveiling of the Nokia Lumia 1020, the Finnish company tries to get a head start on sales and win the 1st place before its competition’s products enter the market.
One of the main selling features of the upcoming Nokia Lumia 1020 is its PureView Pro rear camera that has a 41 MP sensor, that offers clear and sharp images.
Below we will try to compare what we know about both the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the iPhone 6.

Display

Nokia Lumia 1020 4.5 inch AMOLED ClearBlack capacitive touchscreen, capable of a resolution of 1280 × 768 pixels and a pixels per inch density of 332. The iPhone 6 is rumored to increase its display size, in order to remain competitive. There is speculation about a 4.8 inch display for the iPhone 6, with the display being manufactured by Sharp with its IGZO technology.

CPU

The Nokia Lumia 1020 will be powered by a dual core Qualcomm Krait CPU, clocked at 1.5 GHz and it will come with 2 GB of RAM. The iPhone 6, as we already mentioned, is rumored to be powered by the upcoming Apple A7 chip, with a quad core CPU. It has been reported that Apple recently acquired a Taiwanese company called United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), that is listed on the New York Stock Exchange as its own chip maker.

Operating System

The iPhone 6 will most likely come with iOS 7 installed. The seventh iteration of Apple’s mobile operating system, includes a redesigned user interface and a few improvements to the OS’ functionality. The Nokia Lumia 1020 will come with the latest available version of the Windows mobile Operating System named Windows Phone. The latest major release is Windows Phone 8, which was launched on October 29, 2012.

Internal Storage

Nokia Lumia 1020 will be available in two versions: one with 16 GB of internal storage and one with 32 GB of internal storage. The iPhone 6 however is rumored to come in a version with 128 GB of internal memory which is vastly superior to any version of the Nokia Lumia 1020.

Camera

The iPhone 6 is rumored to come with a rear camera of 13 MP. Nokia Lumia 1020′s main selling feature is its PureView Pro rear camera that has a 41 MP sensor. PureView Pro tech combines a very high resolution and very large (1 / 1.5 inches) image sensor of 41 MP with high performance Carl Zeiss optics. It has a very large aperture (f/2.2), auto focus, optical image stabilization, xenon flash, LED video light and it can capture videos in Full High Definition (1080p) at?30 frames per second. Nokia Lumia 1020′s rear camera also has a shutter speed of 1/16,000, which is at this time the fastest illumination speed available in APS-H or APS-C format DSLR cameras. Needless to say, Nokia Lumia 1020′s camera is a class above everything you can find right now in terms of smartphone cameras.

Battery life

Nokia Lumia 1020 comes with a 2,000 mAh battery that offers a pretty good battery life. Unfortunately, Apple did not release any official information on the battery life of its upcoming devices so we cannot compare Nokia Lumia 1020′s battery life to the iPhone 6′s battery life; this will have to wait until we can test both smartphones.

Price and availability

Apple is rumored to unveil the iPhone 6 this September and the smartphone will probably follow Apple’s pricing pattern for the iPhone line. In the case of the Nokia Lumia 1020, it is already available and it can be bought for $300 on contract.
